337/338 series are specially designed for applications which the cutting chips are not permitted to drop into the holes. The three blind cutting holes have the function of both cutting edges and storage chips. If such series have flange, the version number should be 337H/338H. If such series have blind bottom, the version number should be 357/358.

Such kind of insert can be used on material with low hardness and tensile strength, such as light alloys (Aluminum, Magnesium, Zinc and the alloys), cast irons, bronze/brass, thermosetting plastic, laminated board and wood. The Inserts can easily tap into the soft base materials to provide a high strength internal thread or to repair the broken thread.
